About this site
This web site is published by the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA) to assist anyone with questions about our teachings and organization, as well as to give resources on religious freedom. MSIA is 501(c) 3 nonprofit religious organization recognized as a church in the United States. Our organization is described as a New Religious Movement (NRM) by religious scholars. MSIA believes that religious freedom and tolerance are important for a healthy society.

MSIA was founded by John-Roger in the late 1960's and formally incorporated in 1971. It is a nondenominational church with participants around the world. As a spiritual organization, MSIA has sometimes been called a "cult" or "sect" by people who misunderstood MSIA's purpose or disagreed with its philosophy. This site is designed to allow people to make their own decision based on facts and other resources available on the web. It includes an extensive section of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about MSIA, as well as the complete text of a book written about the organization by a religious scholar.
